Jim Pearman was appointed as the Town crier for Kidderminster on 15th June 2006. His long experience as a singer meant that when it came to projecting his voice, he beat all comers.

In September 2006, Jim was appointed as a member of the Ancient and Honourable Guild of Town Criers.

August 2008 saw Jim representing Kidderminster in Almelo, Netherlands together with his granddaughter, Sophie, as escort in the European Town Crier Championships. In October 2009 Sophie won the prize for best dressed escort in the National Championship in Hastings.

Jim hosted the first ever Kidderminster Town Crier competition in August 2009. This has now become an annual event.

In June 2010, Jim and Sophie were invited to take part in the Chester World Town Crier Championships.
